BRIDGEVILLE - Bette Lee Collins Russell, of Bridgeville, died Monday, March 2, 2009, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 75. Born in Laurel, the daughter of the late Julia Hearn and James Collins, and the step-daughter of the late Robert J. Ada, she was a legal secretary before retiring. She was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Nanticoke Post 6 American Legion, Seaford and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion for the State of Delaware. She is survived by her husband, John M. Russell Jr.; two sons, Thomas E. Perry, Spokane, Wash., and Gregory J. Perry of Selbyville; a daughter, Theresa M. Singletary, Magnolia; three step-sons, John M, Russell III, Seaford, Robert K. Russell, and Mark O. Russell of Ellendale; a sister, Nancy King of Seaford; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front & King Streets, Seaford, where friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary, Nanticoke Post 6 American Legion, P.O. Box 781, Seaford, DE 19973.
