Bette Chase (Cross) Woodland, 84

MILTON - Bette Chase (Cross) Woodland, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 84. She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Parsons, W.Va., to the late Gordon E. and Lydia (Phillips) Cross. Mrs. Woodland worked for 25 years as a Court Room Clerk in the Montgomery County Courthouse. She moved to Delaware from Silver Spring, Md., in 1991. Mrs. Woodland is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bobby J. Woodland; son, Robert S. Chase and wife Freda of Highland, Md.; three sisters; Dorothy Gordon of Harbeson, Phyllis Want of Canada, and Dollie Phillips of Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Janet Ann Chase (died in infancy in 1952); two brothers, Harold Cross and Eldon Cross. A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958; Pastor Fred Duncan will be officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton. Online condolences may be sent to condolences@parsellfuneralhomes.com.
