Betsy S. Manglass

Betsy S. Manglass, 73 NEWARK - Betsy S Manglass, of Newark, passed away suddenly Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in her home. She was 73 Born on Oct. 5, 1934 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Eugene W. and Mary Lee Scott. She earned her B.S. from North Carolina State University and her Masters Degree in nursing from Columbia University and taught at the University of Delaware. From the University, she went to be Director of Nursing at Emily P. Bissell Hospital and then went on to be Clinical Director in the Department of Public Health for the State of Delaware for a total of 23 years of service. Mrs. Manglass was a member of the American Nursing Association, Newark Thursday Morning Rotary and the National Nurses Sorority. She was Nurse of the Year in 1980 and President of the Delaware Nursing Association for two terms. Mrs. Manglass is survived by two daughters, Donna J. Salts and her husband Richard of Elkton, Md. and Deborah E. Manglass of Milford; her son, Scott R. Manglass and his wife Mary F. of Newark; six grandchildren, Timothy W. Ward Jr., William A. Salts, C. David Foster, Nicholas P., Daniel A. and Michael E. Manglass and two great grandchildren, Dylan L. Saddler and Jay-Lynn M. Ward. Services will be 8 p.m. tonight in R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. or 7 to 8 p.m. According to her wishes, burial will be private at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helen Graham Center or the Shirley Kittleman Scholarship Fund for Public Health Nurses c/o the funeral home. To send condolences visit www.rtfoard.com.
