Bessie Macer "Aunt Dot" Dennis, 80

FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Bessie Macer "Aunt Dot" Dennis of Federalsburg died Sunday, June 3, 2007, in Cambridge. She was 80.

She was born April 2, 1927, in Dorchester County, the daughter of the late Jame Macer and Cora Lee Macer.

She received her education in Dorchester County public school.

She was an active member of Wallace Temple Church, Rhodesdale, for many years.

She then decided to join The Church of God Prophecy on Puckum Road, with Pastor Edna Murray, her sister.

She was an active member, usher and choir member and was also involved in meetings and Bible study until her health began to fail.

She was employed with MacWilliams Farm in Rhodesdale, Marvin Packing Co., Sharptown, Harper & Batemen, and Pasco Pickling Co., Hurlock.

She also worked in local Grocery Stores in Rhodesdale, Bob and Charlie All, Vernon Lecumpt, Bud and Joan Campbell and Dececco Cannery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dennis; her brothers, Tom Macer and Joseph Macer; and her sisters, Stella Macer, Margie Bowens, Ida Neal, and Edna Murray.

She is survived by one son, Carl Edward Macer and his wife, Geraldine; Anthony "Tony" Blake of Wilmington, Del., whom she raised; a favorite nephew, Bobby Thompson; one brother, Jacob Macer; one sister, Eliza Thompson and her husband, Freddie of Baltimore; special friends, Mrs. Florence Simms and her husband, George, Sister Hill, all of Federalsburg, Shirley Jenkins, and Helen Harmon, both of Rhodesdale; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon Monday in Wallace Temple A.M.E. Church, Rhodesdale.Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Hurlock, and on the day of the funeral from 11 a.m.-noon at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Chester Cemetery in Rhodesdale.
