SMRYNA - Bessie Cochran Moore, of Smyrna, passed away on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Kent General Hospital in Dover. She was 93. Mrs. Moore was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Lee R. and Annie Cochran. She retired after over 40 years as a Beautician. Bessie loved playing volleyball, swimming at the pool and various recreational sports during her younger days. She also enjoyed reading and watching TV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Alfred D. Moore in 2003; three brothers, Winfield, Francis, and Richard Cochran; and two sisters, Martha Lurty, and Margaret Wenger; and a great-granddaughter, Alison Davis. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Anne Moffitt and her husband Bruce of Smyrna, and Linda L. Davis and her husband Ray of Clayton; three grandsons, Michael Moffitt of Smyrna, Steven K. Minner and his wife Christina of Wilmington, and Paul R. Davis and his wife Lori of Smyrna; a granddaughter, Michele Botsch and her husband Roger of Smyrna; two great-granddaughters, Chelsea A. Botsch, Sydney M. Botsch; and a sister-in-law, Mable Cochran of Smyrna. A viewing will be 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
