Bessie A. Welsh, 94

WORTON, Md. - Bessie A. Welsh, of Worton, formerly of Galena, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 94.

Mrs. Welsh was born on Sept. 12, 1913, in Queen Anne's County, the last of eight children to survive the late Nathaniel and Ida Lewis Davis.

She did domestic work for area families including the Starkey's, where she lived on their farm from 1950 through 1995.

Mrs. Welsh enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Benjamin Welsh in 1989.

Mrs. Welch is survived by her daughter, Ruth Thorpe and her husband Wilbert of Worton; three grandchildren, Tammy Loufik and her husband Clarence, John Thorpe Sr., and his wife Penny, and George Thorpe; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Sunday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be held privately in Galena Cemetery.
