William Cecil Green, 77 VIOLA - Bernard "Bill" William Cecil Green passed away Sun., Apr. 21, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Green was born Sept. 4, 1935 in Cumberland, Md. to the late Bernard E. Green and Mabel Schriver Green. He served 6 years in the United States Army. Following his discharge he worked for the Mayflower Moving Company in Cumberland, MD. He moved to Delaware in 1966 and worked as a night clerk for A&P Supermarkets both in Smyrna and Dover until his retirement. Mr. Green was a longtime member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. He took great pride in bringing joy to others by using his God given talents to create personalized cards, calendars and photo albums on his computer. He was also very talented in woodworking and artistic crafts. Mr. Green especially enjoyed making toys for his grandson in "Pappy's Workshop." He was also an avid Phillies fan and was a very special person that touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Marie Stafford. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Wilson Green of Viola; daughter, Susan D. Miller and her husband Ronald of Camden, Del.; son, Christopher W. Green and his wife Karen of Magnolia, Del.; sister, Margaret A. Phillips and her husband Wade of LaVale, Md.; grandson, Nicholas Hunter Green; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Fri., Apr. 26, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE, where he was a long time member. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Meals on Wheels Delaware 100 West 10th St, Suite 207 Wilmington, DE 19801.
