MARYDEL, Md. - Bernard L. Folker, Sr. passed away on November 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Bernie was born on April 19, 1940 in Baltimore, son of the late Bernard F. and Mary Bruening Folker. He was raised in Ingleside and was a 1958 graduate of Sudlersville High School. Bernie served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961 with the military police overseas in Germany. After his honorable discharge he began his career with Choptank Electric as a lineman and crew chief, retiring in 1998 after 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for QA County Parks and Recreation. He was a member of Immaculate Conception in Marydel. Bernie has owned a motorcycle since the age of 17, and in 1992 became a charter member of United Tour Riders Motorcycle Club.
Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Hunter Folker; son, Bernard L. Folker, Jr.; sister, Barbara A. Simpler; and brother, Charles Folker.
Bernie is survived by his wife of four years, Faye Hadaway Folker; children, Teresa Pusey (Howard) of Hebron, Md. and Matthew Folker (Rebecca) of Chestertown; five grandchildren, Andrea (J.T.), Jessie (Bradley), Abby, Amanda (Thomas) and Nicholas; and two great granddaughters, Piper and Oliva Grace.
A viewing will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 10 a.m. - 12 noon in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where service will begin at 12 noon. Inurnment will be held privately in Sudlersville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Compass Regional Hospice, 160 Coursevall Dr., Centreville, MD 21617 or Diakonia Homeless Shelter, 12747 Old Bridge Rd., Ocean City, MD 21842
