Beatrice M. Opdyke, 92
DOVER - Beatrice M. Opdyke of Dover died on March 30, 2007. She was 92.
She was the daughter of the late William M. Willis and his wife, Mae (Scuse) Willis.
She graduated from Dover High School and Wilmington General Hospital School of Nursing and became an registered nurse in 1937.
She worked at Kent General Hospital as a staff nurse for several years and finished her nursing career as a private duty nurse.
Bea was a member of Wilmington General Alumni Association for 70 years. She also belonged to the American Nurses Association, Delaware Nurses Association and Kent County Nurses Association.
She was a member of Cheswold United Methodist Church and the Mary Circle of the Cheswold United Methodist Women, the Dover Modern Maturity Center and RSVP Program.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dearly loved husband, William W. Opdyke Jr. in 1984.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William W. III and Mary; two daughters, Ruth A. Kreer and Linda J. Opdyke; her special friend, Rick Baker; two sisters, Dorothy L. Hite of Long Beach, Calif. and Mary Lou Nicholson of Dover; seven grandchildren, Dean Kreer, David and his wife, Terry Kreer, Beverly and her husband, Gregg Porter, Jeff Opdyke, Patti Opdyke, Holly Vaughn and Matthew and his wife, Michelle Vaughn; four great-grandchildren, Lexi Opdyke, Olivia Kreer, Nathan Kreer and Julia Vaughn; two special friends, Ella Hurd, Bert Scotton, and Nellie Craig; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
