MILFORD - Barbara Walls passed away at home, surrounded by the love of her family, and went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, May 2, 2016. She was 94. Barbara was born in Milford on August 11, 1921, daughter of the late Henry C. Bennett and Mary Phillips Bennett. She was a full time homemaker who lovingly devoted her time to her family. Barbara took great pride in her grandchildren and played many roles in their lives from after school snack provider and game player to personal chauffer. She enjoyed growing flowers and tending to the family vegetable garden, and loved soaking up the sun at the local beaches and vacationing with her husband in Jamaica and Barbados, her favorite tropical paradises. Barbara's Christian faith touched the lives of many especially young children as a Sunday school teacher, coordinator of Summer Bible School, member of the United Methodist Women, and through numerous other church activities. She was active at separate times through her years with the Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church, the Lewes Baptist Church, and lastly the Milford Church of the Nazarene where she had attended for over 20 years. She was a member of the Milton Senior Center and participated as a member of the Church of the Nazarene Widower's Group. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Happy" Walls in 2000; a brother, Charles Bennett; and a sister, Phyllis Hill. She is survived by her children, Connie Zook and husband Bobby, John B. Walls and wife Debbie, and Debbie Mills and husband Rick, all of Milford; a sister, Anne Spicer of Milford; five grandchildren, Brent Zook, Nicole Best and husband Fred, Todd Mills and wife Christina, John Michael Walls, and Mary Elizabeth Grant and husband David; and six great grandchildren, Cassidy Best, Gabriel Best, Landon Best, Regan Best, Elizabeth Mills, and Brady Mills. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church, 23221 Argos Corner Rd, Milford, where friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow the services in the adjoining church cemetery.
