NEW ORLEANS - Barbara Swett Gullett, of New Orleans, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2007. She was 101.
She was born Dec. 7, 1906.
She graduated from Plymouth High School and Plymouth Normal School both in Plymouth, N.H., and from Columbia Teacher's College in New York.
She developed her career as a music teacher and started the Seaford (Del.) School Band.
She was active in the D.A.R., the Colonial Dames and was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Seaford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert Gullett; daughter, Nan Gullett Krause; son, James Simeon Gullett; parents, Mary Nye Swett and Harry Preble Swett; and two sisters, Catharine Sibley and Elizabeth Tate.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Gullett Ryan of New Orleans; her son, George Preble Gullett of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in St. John's United Methodist Church, Seaford.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. John's Methodist Church.
Mothe Funeral Home, New Orleans, is in charge of arrangements.
