Barbara Ellen Shorter Myerly, 67
LINKWOOD, Md. - Barbara Ellen Shorter Myerly, of Linkwood, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, in Dorchester General Hospital. She was 67.
Born on Dec. 21, 1940, in Cambridge, she was the daughter of Murial Elizabeth Airey Shorter of Cambridge, and the late Granville S. Shorter.
Barbara was a graduate of Cambridge High School, class of 1956.
On Sept. 11, 1967, she married Roy Franklin Myerly Jr.
She was a member of Souls Harbor Church of God, Cambridge.
Barbara had been a private duty nurse for many years.
She enjoyed bingo, reading, spending time with her family and her cat, Mow.
Barbara also liked going to the Cambridge Diner with her husband for coffee and visiting her friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Shorter and Sammy Shorter; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Daniels.
In addition to her mother, she was survived by her husband, Roy Myerly of Linkwood; two daughters, Melody LaChappelle of Cambridge, Faith Cannon and son-in-law, Jerry Lee Cannon, both of Marion; a granddaughter who she raised as her daughter, Angel Renee Osborne of Bridgeville, Del.; two sisters, Holly Ann Cook and her husband William of Salem, Yvonne Church and her husband Terry of Cambridge; brother, Jerry Shorter and his wife Nicole of Hurlock; two granddaughters, Shelly Tinsley of Crisfield and Jerri Lynn Rayfield of Marion; seven great-grandchildren, Michael LaChappelle, Bobby Daniels III, Paul Osborne Jr., Dylan Tinsley, Dustin Tinsley, Patrick Osborne and Aireana Rayfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Monday in Souls Harbor Church of God, 718 Peachblossom Ave., Cambridge, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. J. Edward King, pastor of Souls Harbor Church of God. Assisting at the service will be the Rev. Phillip Morris, pastor of Crisfield Church of God.
Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be William Cook, Willie Cook, Teri Church, Wade Johnson, Chris Tinsley, Ahmet Kir and Jerry Shorter. Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Joseph Osborne Jr.
Memorial offerings may be made in Barbara's memory to Souls Harbor Church of God, 718 Peachblossom Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
