B. Gail Raver Buckler
Beatrice Gail Raver Buckler passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.
She was born on August 28, 1941, to Franklin Eugene Raver, Sr. and Hazel Larue Alban Raver who owned and operated a large family farm in Upperco, Maryland.
Gail was born the eighth of nine children, and a true "farmers daughter". She attended local schools and graduated from North Carroll High School. In 1965 she married Lee Buckler, and they had one child. Daughter, Michele was born in 1970, and a few years later the family moved to Dover, Del. Lee and Gail eventually went their separate ways, and in 1986 Gail became a single mom.
Ever the gardening enthusiast, Gail became a member of the Dover Sprig and Twig Garden Club and was later certified as a Kent County Master Gardner. She worked part-time on a Farm Irrigation Project for the Delaware Department of Agriculture. Gail became well known in the community through her Junior Board volunteer work at the Kent General Hospital Gift Shop and as the assistant manager at The Stable Shoppes in Dover. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bridge, being the official number caller for Bingo games at the Dover Elks Lodge, and had great fun as a professional clown with the Mid-Atlantic Clown Association.
Gail was a loving and compassionate person. Over the years she was a full-time caregiver for her mother, her ex-mother-in-law, and most recently her sister Janice who lived with her for 14 years.
Gail is survived by her daughter, Michele J. Buckler; brother, Carlos Raver; sisters, Helen Lee Matthews, and Phyllis Joy Martin; and eleven nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by brothers, Donald, Franklin, Jr., Thomas, Robert; sister, Janice Raver; nephew, Herbert Sr.; and ex-husband, LeRoy B. Buckler M.D.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Del. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Private Interment at Emory Church Cemetery, Upperco, Md.
Instead of flowers please consider memorial contributions to Sprig and Twig Garden Club, 21 Berwick Lane, Dover, DE 19904 or to a charity of your choice.
