Astrid Casazza Jones

Astrid Casazza Jones, 77 DOVER - Astrid Casazza Jones, of Dover, died Monday, August 4, 2008, in Kent General Hospital. She was 77. Mrs. Jones was born Nov. 14, 1930 in New Rochelle, N.Y. to the late Joseph Strobl and Ellen Berg Strobl. She worked for Sarah's Hair Base and also had worked for the hair salon on Dover Air Force Base as a hair dresser. After retirement she worked for Singer Sewing Center in Dover. She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover. Mrs. Jones was an avid bridge player and enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, gardening and painting in all mediums. She also bred and showed Shih Tzu dogs. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William L. Casazza, Aug. of 1973; her second husband, Dale L. Jones, May 2007 and her son, William J. Casazza in 1998. Mrs. Jones is survived by her son, Robert D. Casazza of Dover; four daughters, Maryellen Rowley of Camden, Claudia A. Kirchner and her husband Gary of Dover, Linda E. Schimp and her husband Vick of Dover, Tina L. King and her husband Roger of Houston; sister, Ellen Klein of Sun City Center, Fla.; grandchildren, Mark W. and Luke P. Rowley, Christopher, Nikki Casazza, Danielle and Andrew Kirchner, Lauren E. and Alexia G. Schimp, Zachary D. and Joshua L. King and her best friend Bill Dougherty of Dover. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Peppy and Sparky. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Instead of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway Dover, DE 19901.
