MILFORD - Asa Warren, age 85, of Milford, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, of Melanoma. He served during the World War II in the European Theater of War, as a member of the 290th Combat Engineer Battalion. He worked at DuPont in Seaford for nearly 35 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed gardening and hunting, and the following tells the story in his own words "when the undertaker asked me about organizations I said I was a quail hunter. I have a large lot with my home and always took pride in having a nice garden to share with my family and friends. In one corner of my garden I built a bird dog kennel. During my life God blessed me with some great dogs; Duke, Smokey, Ginger, Julie, Pepper, and others. I enjoyed their companionship and the friendship of the many bird hunters I met along the way. I thank you, Jesus, for a wonderful life and a loving family to put up with me. God Bless." He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Cecelia; son, Steven Warren and wife Diane; daughter, Phyllis Ingram and husband Wayne; five grandchildren, Steven Warren Jr., Lisa Peel and husband Jason, Wayne Ingram, Jr. and wife Linsey, Amber Messick and husband Matt, Ashley Gary and husband Ross; and nine great- grandchildren, Trevor Brown, Bryce Brown, Haley Ingram, Owen Peel, Ellie Peel, Spencer Peel, Calie Gary, Blake Gary, and Avery Messick. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011, in the chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friend may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be Milford Community Cemetery.
