MILFORD - Arthur W. "Dick" Tucker, of Milford, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 87. He was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Greenwood, the son of the late Brooks and Sallie Willey Tucker. Mr. Tucker was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Grier Lumber Co. in Milford. Mr. Tucker was a charter member of Appel-Tucker VFW Post #9244 in Ellendale, and he was a former member of the Ellendale VFD. He loved doing carpentry work, and going fishing with his grandchildren. He was survived by his wife of 68 years, Ella Clendaniel Tucker; two daughters Sandy Bowden of Salisbury, Md., and Bonnie Walls and her husband Robert E. of Milford; four grandchildren, B. Walls and Carol Attix, Ty Bowden and his wife Linda, Scott Bowden, and Lisa Walls; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 West Market Street, Greenwood. Interment was held at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to, Ellendale VFD, POB 5, Ellendale, DE 19941 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
