Arthur Vincent Tate

Arthur Vincent Tate, age 65, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Bay Health Medical Center in Dover, DE.
Arthur was born on January 6, 1959, in Chestertown, MD, the son of the late Arthur Dempster Tate and Anna Lucille "Duckery". He graduated from Kent County High School in 1978 and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving for 4 years, he was honorably discharged. Arthur then returned home, pursued an education in auto mechanics, and began working for Brambles Inc. After 15 years, he moved on to work for Greggo and Ferrara as a heavy equipment mechanic, eventually retiring after 22 years. Arthur was a member of St. John's Holiness Church in Hartly, DE. He enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, watching westerns and 60 Minutes on TV, working on vehicles and in his yard, and most of all, spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ja'na Tate, and his aunt, Shirley Lively.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Tate of Smyrna, DE, two sisters, Eileen Williams Tate of Dover, DE, and Sarah Tate Gibbs of San Antonio, TX, brother Brian Tate of Chestertown, MD, son Voncel Tate of Smyrna, DE, stepson Cedale Downs of Dover, DE, aunt Evelyn Foster of Chesterville, MD, uncle William Duckery of Newburg, NY, and nephew Joshua Willams of Wilmington, DE.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm at St. John's Holiness Church, 825 Fords Corner Rd, Hartly, DE. Services will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear, DE.
