LAUREL - Arthur James White III, of Laurel, formerly of the Dover, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in his home. He was 45. Born in Charleston, S.C., he was the son of A.J. White Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Judy Shepherd of Portsmouth, Va. Jim enjoyed life by listening to Southern Rock n Roll music, and having cook outs involving fun times with his family and friends. His favorite place on earth was the OBX, N.C., where he enjoyed surfing, fishing, playing horse shoes and having fun in the sun. Recently, his spare time was occupied by doing string art. Throughout his life Jim held various jobs involving iron and steel work, construction, plumbing and landscaping. In his quieter moments he enjoyed cooking and creating his own recipes. Along with the good times Jim traveled many difficult paths during his life on earth. May God Bless him and allow him to rest peacefully in heaven. Jim is survived by a son, A.J. White IV; one daughter, Joice T. White, both of Virginia; two sisters, Debbie Betts and her husband Alex of Dover, and Jill Leger and her husband Mike of South Dakota; three half sisters, Dawn White of Smyrna, Tammy White of Mobile, Ala., and Christy Williams of Clayton, N.C.; one half brother, Buddy Mintz of Atlanta, Ga.; three stepsisters, Karen Miller, Bev Swiger, and Mel Peters, all of Dover; one stepbrother, Martin Brozena of Middletown; two nieces, Devin Mayer of Billings, Mont., and Roxanne Betts of Dover; four nephews, Justin Swiger of Dover, Jared West of Alabama, and Tristan White of Smyrna. Friends may call Monday starting at noon at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, where services will be 1 p.m. Cremation with interment will be at the convenience of the family. Letters of condolences may be forwarded to ambruso@aol.com.
