MILFORD - Arthur James Waldbusser died early Thurs. morning, Feb. 19, 2015, at the Milford Veterans' Home in Milford, Delaware. Arthur was born Nov. 30, 1924 to William and Regina Waldbusser in Philadelphia, Pa. He was the oldest of three children, and shared his childhood with two younger sisters, Jean and Rita. Growing up, Arthur loved baseball and could often be found competing in neighborhood games. As an adult, Arthur was big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. After high school, Arthur joined the Army and served in the latter part of WWII. After the Army, Arthur went on to attend Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. He spent several years as a high school math teacher in Bridgeville. In 1966, he moved his family to Camden, DE, where he became the Superintendent of the Magnolia School District. After merging with the Caesar School District in 1969, Arthur continued his career as an elementary Vice-Principal in the Caesar Rodney District until his retirement in 1980. After retiring, Arthur moved to Zanesville Ohio. In 2012 he moved back to Delaware to be close to two of his daughters, Susan and Lynne. In his own quiet way, Arthur had great love for his five children, and they were always the pride of his life. He taught them how to be fair, to be honest, and to be kind. He loved a good joke, a good Manhattan, and always, a good dish of ice-cream! Arthur interests included vegetable gardening, coaching his son in track and field, music and dancing. At one time, he tried his hand at farming and became a champion watermelon grower in Dorchester County, Md. Every year his vegetable garden supported his family of seven. He was a wonderful dancer and could keep a beat to everything from rock n roll to a waltz. Arthur's trip to heaven leaves behind his five children, James Waldbusser, Nancy Cardena and husband Victor, Carol Hoch and husband Dave, Lynne Newlin and husband Roy and Susan Chumley; five grandchildren, Kevin and Michelle Hoch, Lucas Cardena, James (J.W.) Newlin and Maleah Chumley ;and his beloved sister, Jean Warren. Dad, you will be missed. We love you. Funeral services will be held 7PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10) Dover. Friends may call from 6-8PM.
