DOVER - Arthur J. LaFashia of Dover, died Thursday July 21, 2011, at Kent General Hospital surrounded by his family after a courageous two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 67. Mr. LaFashia was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Wilmington, to the late Vincent J. LaFashia Sr. and Lucy Rose (Cicatelli) LaFashia of Wilmington. He had served in the Army Reserves for six years. Mr. LaFashia had worked for Doeskin Paper Products in Rockland, then General Motors, Boxwood Plant, he moved to Dover to work for Scott Paper/Proctor & Gamble where he retired from after 28 years in 2004. He enjoyed his Florida vacations and spending time with family. Mr. LaFashia was a Life Member of the NRA. Mr. LaFashia is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette M. (Sanders) LaFashia of Dover; son, Thomas D. LaFashia of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Krista L. LaFashia of Dover; brothers, Vincent J. LaFashia Jr. and Thomas LaFashia both of New Castle; sister, Rose Marie Cantrell of Wilmington; and special friend, Candice L. McDaniel of Dover, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday July 24, 2011 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Pancreatic Research Fund c/o The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, New York 11714, or the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
