Arthur Harry Butterworth Jr., 73

CAMDEN - Arthur Harry Butterworth Jr., of Camden, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 73. He was born on April 3, 1935, in Passaic, N.J., and lived in Dingmans Ferry, Pa., for 23 years before moving to Camden five years ago. He was the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Remick) Butterworth. He attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. He had spent six years in the National Guard Arthur had worked as an operations supervisor for American Cyanamid, Wayne, N.J., for 30 years before retiring in 1990. He attended Whatcoat United Methodist Church, Camden, and was a member of the AARP of Milford, Pa., where he had served as president. Arthur enjoyed camping, traveling, boating, sports, gardening and home repairs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Helen (Remick); and a sister, Valarie Morissette. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Butterworth; two sons, Douglas Butterworth and his wife Annie of Old Forge, N.Y., and Bradford Butterworth and his wife Monica of East Stroudsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Cynthia Neill and her husband John of Saranack Lake, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, Main St., Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Kent General Hospital Cancer Center, 640 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901; or the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
