MILTON - Mrs. Wright passed away June 18, 2016 at Harbor Health Care in Lewes. Arlene was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on November 20, 1936. She held many fond memories of swimming and playing at Lewes beach, but Milton was the place she referred to as home. After raising her children, she worked at I.G. Burton in Milford, for over 30 years as a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir with her husband. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her husband at the Milton Fire House. There are things Arlene enjoyed and would like to be remembered for. She was a matriarch. She enjoyed giving charitable donations to several charities. She enjoyed painting, drawing, and writing. She attended and enjoyed every family celebration. She enjoyed travelling to her two favorite destinations: Lancaster and Vermont. In addition to her parents, Josephine and Paul Hess, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill; and her sister, Alice. She is survived by her brother, Paul Hess and his wife Joyce; her three children and their spouses, Karen and her husband Dave, Bill and his wife Jill, and Dan and his wife Deborah; grandchildren and their spouses, Laurie and husband Marc, Billy, Matt and wife Lisa, Anthony and wife Debbie, Stacey, Michael, Matt, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Katie, Bryce, Brayden, Delaney, and Skylar; and also by an abundance of other loving family members. A funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE 19968 where friends may call after 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milton. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to either: Milton Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary 116 Front St., Milton, DE 19968, or Harbor Health Care, 301 Ocean View Blvd Lewes, DE 19958, or Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave 7th fl. New York, NY 10001.
