Arid 'Marty' Martin, 70

CLAYTON - Arid "Marty" Martin of Clayton died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 70.

Mr. Martin was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Edmonton, Ky., son of the late Guy and Sallie (Hayes) Martin.

He worked as a boilermaker for National Transient Lodge in Kansas for 35 years before retirement, and for the last 10 years, farmed in the Clayton area.

Mr. Martin was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion David C. Harrison Post 14, Smyrna, and a member of the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandra (Brooks) Martin; seven children, Robert Martin of Dover, Dale Martin of Clayton, Brenda (Martin) Nabb of Smyrna, and Jerry Martin, Janet Rabakovitz, Mark Martin and Roger Martin, all of the Chicago area; three brothers, Edgar Martin, Wayne Martin and Bobby Martin, all of Kentucky; two sisters, Juanita Franklin and Joyce Vilbert, both of Kentucky; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Sons of the American Legion, PO Box 345, Smyrna, DE 19977.
