Bears QB Caleb Williams is 'week to week' with hamstring injury, coach Ben Johnson says
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson is leaving open the possibility that Caleb Williams could play in Week 3 against Philadelphia. Williams left Sunday’s 9-3 loss to Minnesota with a right hamstring injury. The third-year quarterback got hurt on a scramble deep in Vikings territory with about 7 1/2 minutes left. Johnson says he doesn’t think Williams will practice this week, but he isn’t ruling him out for the matchup with the Eagles next Monday night. After the home game against Philadelphia, the Bears take on the New York Jets on Oct. 4 before visiting the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 11.
While awaiting more info on Daniels' injury, the Commanders announce Mariota will start this weekend

Infantino open to an independent FIFA governance review after backlash over failed project
MEXICO CITY (AP) — FIFA President Gianni Infantino has suggested he'd be open to an independent review of the organization's governance system. Infantino sent a letter on Monday to FIFA Council members and 211 member associations, proposing an external assessment of FIFA's governance framework. This follows the failure of the "FIFA Forward Enterprise" project, which faced backlash. The plan involved private investors buying shares in competitions, sparking criticism and causing some members to withdraw support. The governance crisis comes as Infantino prepares for a fourth term starting in 2027.
Mexican Senate moves to restore soccer promotion and relegation, reigniting Liga MX fight
MEXICO CITY (AP) — The debate over promotion and relegation in Mexican soccer has reached the Senate. Officials announced a legislative reform proposal on Tuesday. Senator Clemente Castañeda, backed by other party leaders, emphasized the importance of sporting merit in national sports associations. The system was eliminated in 2020 due to financial difficulties worsened by the pandemic. It was supposed to return last year, but that never happened. Second-division clubs have protested, demanding the system's reinstatement. Last week, Mexico’s National Antitrust Commission launched an investigation into potential monopolistic practices related to the absence of promotion and relegation.
Snedeker wants Americans to feel they're starting over in a Presidents Cup they always win
MEDINAH, Ill. (AP) — It's not quite like death and taxes, but the Americans winning the Presidents Cup seems like a certainty. They have lost only once since the matches against the International team began in 1994, and that was 26 years ago. U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker wants to instill in his team that past success means nothing at Medinah. The Internationals are hopeful of a home-course advantage on U.S. soil. That's because their captain is Geoff Ogilvy, whose golf course architecture company did a redesign of the course. His team has four Presidents Cup rookies and has to overcome a quarter-century of not winning.
