Anthony Thomas
MacLeish DeVigili
DOVER - Anthony Thomas MacLeish DeVigili passed away the morning of December 24, 2020 in his home.
Anthony was born October 10, 1996 in Dover, Delaware to Anthony Joseph DeVigili and Denise Elizabeth MacLeish. He attended Polytech High School where his love of mechanics and trucks was fostered, he made such an impression on his teachers with his easy smile and amazing sense of humor that they kept in contact with him for years down the road. AT graduated from Polytech in 2015 with honors in the Auto Tech Program, and we all love the iconic picture of him with his graduation cap sitting on top of his well worn Ford Hat. Anthony was an Eagle Scout and had been in scouting since kindergarten. This encouraged his love for the outdoors, giving him the base knowledge to be the guy everyone calls with a random fix-it question.
After High School, Anthony accepted a position with the state as a Del Dot employee. He quickly became an equipment operator and recently moved to a yard where he could "drive the big stuff". He made immediate friends that soon became like family at every yard he worked, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication to his profession.
You can't say Anthony or AT, as many know him, and not say happy hour, the eagles or golf. He was the first guy to meet you for a beer, a hug and listen to what ever life brought your way. Giving you the biggest hug at the end of it. The Eagles were his biggest joy and heartache, he counted down the days until preseason and was always watching and telling Doug Peterson what he should be doing. Anthony and his Dad (Tony) enjoyed playing golf together as often as they could. He was an all-star in the small town Pennsylvania Golf Circuit, where he played with family and friends frequently.
Anthony was the guy you called when something needed to be done, and no matter what he was doing or where he was, he was there. And he was there with a smile on his face and an "Ok where do you need me and what needs to be done?" attitude. The world is truly missing one of its best old souls with his passing. His heart was too good, and we have all been made better and kinder for knowing and loving him. He stood at 6'6, bearded, with flowing locks and was affectionately called the "Gentle Giant".
Anthony's death has a left a large hole in the hearts of those that love him.
He is survived by his parents, Anthony DeVigili and Denise MacLeish; sister, Gina DeVigili of Dover; his dog nephew, Boomer MacLeish DeVigili; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
