Anna May Marvel

HOUSTON - Anna May Marvel, of Houston, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Silver Lake Center, in Dover. She was 87 and lived to witness many changes in our world. She was born in Milton, daughter of the late Walter and Sarah (Ellingsworth) Jefferson. She lived most of her life in Houston and prior to her health failing, was an active member of Houston U.M. Church, Houston Fire Co., VFW Ladies Auxiliary, in Milford and volunteered at Milford Memorial Hospital. Anna May retired, several years ago, as Postmaster of Farmington Post Office. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Marvel; a son, James Franklin Marvel and his wife Betty. Anna May is survived by her children, Norma Hendon, Patricia Lawter and husband Dallas, Donald Marvel and wife Sharon, Gretchel Marvel, David Marvel and wife Janet, John Marvel and wife Inge, Lora Logan and husband Jim and Mary Navalaney. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too numerous to name, were always in her thoughts and prayers. A funeral service was 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Houston U.M. Church, 235 Broad Street, Houston, where friends called one hour prior. Burial was in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to the church or Houston Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 122, Houston, DE 19954. Arrangements handled by Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
