MILFORD - Anna Ivich, of Milford, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, in Heritage at Milford. She was 93. Mrs. Ivich was born Anna Flegar in Austria in a war-torn region that later became part of Italy, then Yugoslavia and finally Croatia. She emigrated to New York on the first Red Cross ship to cross the Atlantic carrying GI brides after World War II. She joined her husband in New York and they eventually moved to Massapequa, N.Y., where she raised four children and owned and operated the Bay Shore Hotel and Central Islip Inn. They retired to Sunny Isles, Fla., and Franklin, N.C. Mrs. Ivich was an avid gardener and lover of children and animals. She also enjoyed baking and sewing. She was an active member of several parishes, most recently St. John's Catholic Church in Milford. Her faith was very important to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Vladislav Ivich; and two sons, Elliot Ivich and George Ivich. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Reising of Holbrook, N.Y., and Loretta Ivich Edmondson, M.D. of Milford; four grandchildren, Helen Martines, Daniel Reising, George Grover and Anna Lee Edmondson; and one great-grandchild, Jesse Martines. The family will greet friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Avenue, Milford. Entombment will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro.
