Andrew Michael 'Mike' Slaughter, 58

LEIPSIC - Andrew Michael "Mike" Slaughter, 58, of Leipsic, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Hartland Hospice Center Wilmington. He was born on Dec. 14, 1950, in Dover, to the late Andrew and Betty Turner Slaughter. He was a member of Leipsic Volunteer Fire Co. Michael served in the USAF from 1969 to 1973. He was a waterman all of his life. He enjoyed riding his bicycle around the town of Leipsic and watched the Phillies and fussed with them. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Andrew Thornton Slaughter in 1977 and Betty Slaughter in 2009; his brother, Leroy Thornton "Buddy" Slaughter in 1983; and nNephew, Janson Slaughter. He is survived by son, Jeremy Michael Slaughter of Dover; brothers, Wesley J. and his wife Kathy Slaughter of Garden Grove, Calif., James and his wife Betty Slaughter of Florida, and George and his wife Debra Slaughter of Harrington; sisters, Martha Wilkinson of Leipsic, Becky Bedwell of Marydel, Md., Judith and her husband William Ernst of Dover, and Debby Messina of Dover; and 15 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. Remembrance Services will be noon, Saturday, Aug. 8 at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family request that memorial contributions be given to Leipsic Volunteer Fire Co. or Heartland Hospice, 5661 Ochle Tree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
