Alvin W. Byler, 79

DOVER - Alvin W. Byler of Dover passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, surrounded by his family. He was 79.

Mr. Byler was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Delaware, to the late William and Lydia Byler.

He was a member of the Central Mennonite Church in Dover.

Mr. Byler was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all. He will be sadly missed.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Mary and Emma Byler; and a grandson, Kevin Nissley.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Deitwieler) Byler of Dover; six sons, David Byler of Florida, Marvin Byler and his wife Milly of Virginia, Alvin Byler Jr. of Indiana, Tim Byler of Virginia, Freeman Byler of Slaughter Beach and William Byler and his wife Patricia of Dover; seven daughters, Mary Miller and her husband Raymond of Virginia, Mae Byler and her husband William of Kenton, and Viola Gingerich and her husband Tim, Ruth Nissley and her husband Mark, Linda Bontrager and her husband William and Wanda Lehto and her husband Howard, all of Dover, and Martha Wiggins of Florida; 37 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Del. 8 and Victory Chapel Road, Dover. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Central Mennonite Church, 220 W. Denneys Road, Dover.

The family suggests contributions to Central Mennonite Church School, 220 W. Denneys Road, Dover, DE 19904.
