Alton L. 'Sunshine' Passwaters, 76
SEAFORD - Alton L. "Sunshine" Passwaters, of Seaford, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Life Care at Lofland Park, Seaford. He was 76. He passed away with his wife by his side, along with cousins and friends.
Alton was born in Bridgeville on May 17, 1931, the son of the late Branch and Dora (Jester) Passwaters.
He retired from the Dupont Co., Seaford, in 1985 after 36 years. He then worked for William O'Day & Sons until he became ill.
Alton was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Seaford.
He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting and bowling. His favorite driver was Bill Elliott.
Alton was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Passwaters; sisters, Bessie Green, Margaret Jewell and Virginia Sammons; two nieces, Pat and Linda; and two nephews, G.B. and C.J.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sylvia Stoker Passwaters; his son, James Passwaters and his wife Lisa of Fruitland, Md.; two sisters, Mary Ellen Tull of Seaford and Dora Lee Zsedney of Dent, Minn.; a special granddaughter, Kelly and her mother Teri Love; a special grandson, Adam; step-grandchildren, Lynsey and Chris; a special sister-in-law, Naomi Phillips and her husband Harold; and seven nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior and from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
The Rev. Roland Tice will officiate.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike McGee, Billy O'Day, Sammy Porches, Calvin Ellis, Everett Harrold and Dennis Lee Headley. Honorary pallbearers will be William O'Day, Carlton Jones, Robert Headley, Leroy Wyatt, Buddy Tall, Lee Schroder and Paul Birch.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Woodland United Methodist Church, 5123 Woodland Church Road, Seaford, DE 19973; or Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
