Alma Troyer Schrock, 89

GREENWOOD - Alma Troyer Schrock, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008. She was 89. Mrs. Schrock was born April 2, 1919, in Kokomo, Ind., the daughter of the late Ammon P. and Huldah Bender Troyer. She was a homemaker and for many years, a bookkeeper for Elvin Schrock and Sons. Mrs. Schrock was a member of the Greenwood Mennonite Church, where she taught Children Sunday School and was a member and chairperson of the women's sewing circle for many years. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and watching the birds. She had a great love for her family and would pray for each one. She made all the grandchildren feel special. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice M. Root; two sisters, Viola Kreider and Wilma Lee; and a brother, Marvin Troyer. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Elvin Schrock; five children and their spouses, Elda S. and Kenneth Layton, Marlin J. and Janice Schrock, Merlin R. and Linda Schrock, Delores J. and Stuart Mast, all of Greenwood, Bernice E. and Donald Geiser of Harrington; a son-in-law, Bill Root of Harrington; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond E. Troyer of Dover; a sister-in-law, Alma Troyer of Wilmington; and nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 1 - 2 p.m. Thursday at the Greenwood Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Greenwood Mennonite Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
