Alfred Sabbato, 85

WYOMING - Alfred Sabbato of Wyoming passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 85.

Mr. Sabbato was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Wilmington, son of the late Filippo and Giovannina "Jenny" Sabbato.

He was a proud American who served his country in the U.S. Army during the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a custodian in the Caesar Rodney School District until he retired in 1984.

Mr. Sabbato loved the Lord, baseball and country music, and was an avid collector of angels.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rose Sabbato of Wyoming; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph and Athena Wheatley of Winterford, W.Va., and John Sabbato and Anthony Sabbato, both of Wyoming, two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Lee and Charles Deery of Wilmington, and Pamela Lynch-Sabbato of Wyoming; two grandsons, Joseph Moore, and his wife, Sherri, and Christopher Lynch; five granddaughters, Carol Bahr and her husband, Dale, Sheila Walsh and her husband, Kerry, Sherry Carner and her husband, Mark, Cassandra and Scott Thompson and Alicia Lynch; 12 great-grandchildren, James, Joseph, Amanda, Brianna, Megan, Benjamin, Bonnie, Nicole, Dustin, Anthony, Kaitlyn and Jocelyn; and two great-great-grandsons, Joseph II and James II.

Remembrance services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720; or the American Heart Association-Kent County, Del., Memorial Fulfillment Center, 777 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15235.
