DOVER - Albert "Al" Manzo died August 16, 2012, at Bay Health Medical Center in Dover. Born in Hoboken, N.J., he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Catherine Schmitt Manzo. Al had served in the United States Marine Corps during WW-II and had later worked as a heavy machinery mechanic with the General Foods Corp., which later became Kraft Foods, retiring in 1985. He had been a longtime faithful member of Holy Cross Church and was an active member of the BPO Elks Lodge in Dover where he had donated his time for over 43 years. He thoroughly enjoyed the time that he spent while vacationing in Florida and in his private moments he simply enjoyed the management of his investments. Al was a man who had difficulty in saying "No" to others and his loss will be felt throughout the Dover Community. Besides his parents and siblings he was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Virginia, who died in April of 1999. Al leaves several loving nieces and nephews; Judith Skarzynski of Secaucus, N.J., Barbara Griffin of Groton, Mass., Geralyn Guidetti of Sun City West, Ariz., Jon A. Bogdan of East Orange, N.J., Arthur J. Manzo and Katheryn Manzo both of England; along with several great-nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. August 21, 2012 at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, S. State St. Dover, DE. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Family suggests donations in his memory to either the BPO Elks of Dover, Bay Health Medical Center Foundation or to Delaware Hospice.
