Albert Earl "Junnie" Jewell Jr., 90

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Albert Earl "Junnie" Jewell Jr., of Chestertown, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. He was 90.

Mr. Jewell was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Philadelphia, son of the late Albert Earl Sr. and Lillian Marie (Joiner) Jewell.

He was a graduate of Chestertown High School.

On Sept. 1, 1945, Mr. Jewell married Mary "Diddy" Brooks, and they made their home in Chestertown.

A lifelong farmer, he worked with Dorsey Hines and later George F. Johnson on Kings Grant Farm. He retired from farming in 1992.

Mr. Jewell was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, trapping and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary Jewell, in 1989; and a sister, Virginia (Jewell) Martin.

He is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Tom and Nancy Jewell of Chestertown; and a sister, Katherine "Kitty" Woodall of Chestertown.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Harry Morris, Frankie Hepbron, Tom Bedwell, Dickie Hudson, Bill Spry and Mike Martinez.

The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice.

Arrangements by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown.
