Albert A. Baca

DOVER - Albert A. Baca, (M/Sgt., ret.) passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Kent General Hospital. Al was born July 17, 1933 in Albuquerque, N.M. to the late Leo Baca and Christina O'Bannon Baca. He served in the Air Force for 23 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and Cuban Missile Crisis. After his retirement from the Air Force in 1974, he earned degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Delaware State University. He then worked as an accountant for the Mary Campbell Center in Wilmington, ILC in Frederica and Masten Lumber in Milford. He enjoyed volunteering and worked with several programs over the years including the Dover Air Force Base High School Boosters Club while his children were in school and Meals on Wheels through the Modern Maturity Center. He was also the Modern Maturity Center's accountant until they built their present facility and he set up their computer systems. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, David Baca; and sister, Margaret Dramberger. Al is survived by his wife of 64 years, Angelina Espinosa Baca of Dover; children, Stephanie Baca Meehan of Newark, Patricia Baca Henry and husband Paul Henry, of Baltimore, Md., Robert D. Baca of Malvern, Pa., Annamarie Baca Johnson of Townsend, Carl R. Baca and wife Stacy of Perrysburg, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon Baca and wife, Nettie of Texas City, Texas, James Baca of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lawrence and wife Rose Baca of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a very large and loving extended family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and making fond memories. A Mass of Christian burial will be held, 9:30AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9PM Monday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 South Bradford Street, Dover. Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701, at a later date. The family asks in lieu of flowers please make donations to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19901, or the First State Animal Center and SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934 Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
