CLAYTON - Adam Michael Hughes passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident. Adam was born Jan. 30, 1988 in Newark the son of James (Jim) Michael Hughes and Sonya Fullene Locklear Hughes of Clayton. Adam enjoyed riding his street bike and ATV's, golfing, crabbing, eating and going to church every Sunday. He was a free spirited young man who recently started a new life walking with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Mary Hughes, who were from West Grove, Pa.; his maternal grandparents, Fuller and Delora Locklear, who were from Lumberton, N.C. In addition to parents, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who were a big part of his life; and many friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna, where funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. A second visitation for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church, located at 2660 Shannon Rd. in Lumberton, NC, where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
