Worth Townsend

DOVER - Worth Townsend, Jr. passed away, Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 at home.
Mr. Townsend was born Sept. 22, 1932 in Rowland, N.C. to the late Worth Townsend, Sr. and Olive Moody Townsend.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1953 and stationed in Seoul, Korea. Mr. Townsend retired in 1989 after 33 years from the United States Postal Service as a carrier and in the office. After retirement he worked for Delaware Solid Waste, and Meals on Wheels for the Modern Maturity Center for 15 years. He enjoyed race horses, especially harness racing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Horace Townsend; sister, Geneva Edwards.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Coker Townsend of Dover; daughter, Susan Hudson (Rick) of Leipsic; step-son, Michael A. Durham of Dover; step-grandson, Christopher Ridgeway; step-great-grandson, Carson Ridgeway.
Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover, DE 19904.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904.
The family would like to thank his Southside Baptist Church family for the care and friendship they showed as well as Vitas Hospice for their service and care.
