FELTON - Wilson Moore Reed passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Reed was born August 10, 1934, in Camden, Delaware to the late Homer Reed and Mary Louise Tharp Reed.
He was the owner and operator for the Singer Store from 1955 until 1984, purchasing the business as an independent owner in 1984. He built the business into three locations in Dover, Milford, and Camden. He was in the Blue Hen Mall until 1998, one of the last businesses to leave that location, when he moved the business to Rodney Village. Mr. Reed was a loyal Democrat for the 33rd and 34th Representative Districts and made three runs for Representative. He was an appointed Board Member of the Delaware Dentistry Doctors Board for the Department of Aging. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover. Mr. Reed enjoyed watching all sports; NASCAR, Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. Wilson came from a farming family and loved to garden and eat what he grew.
In addition to his parents; he is the last of seven siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joan Reed of Felton, DE; children, Crystal Sweeney and her husband Jody of Wyoming, DE, Kevin VanSyckle of Dover, DE, Lori Root and her husband Brian of Rutland, Vermont, and Joelle Vincent and her husband Bill of Felton, DE; grandchildren, Billy, Amy, Cameron, Skyler, Sydney, Shelby, Elizabeth and Levi; great grandchildren, Cole, Blake, Cannon, Caleb, Calvin, Roselyn and Zoe.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2022, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call from 12-2. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
