William Weldon Pritchett Jr.

Weldon Pritchett, Jr., 68 BRIDGEVILLE - William "Bill" Weldon Pritchett Jr. went to be with The Lord on Aug. 30, 2013 surrounded by his family at Delaware Hospice in Milford. Bill was born Nov. 2, 1944 in Cambridge, Md. to the late William W. Pritchett Sr. and Mayme Hope Pritchett. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1962 and served proudly in the United States Coast Guard from 1962 to 1969. Following his military service, he worked for Hospital Shared Computer Service Center, Acme Markets Computer Service, and Kidde Consultants. He was brought to Delaware by Nanticoke Homes and was employed as manager of the computer center and served as Comptroller until 1981. He worked for Robbins and Adams Accounting Firm from 1981 to 1984. Then he came to work for the Wicomico County Board of Education in the MIS department. He was elected to the Woodbridge School District Board of Education from 1990 to 1995. Bill served as Vice President during his term. Upon his retirement in 2008, he was appointed by Governor RuthAnn Minner to serve in the capacity of judge for the Justice of the Peace Court System in and for Sussex County, Delaware. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists and served as the organist at Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, Delaware since 1984. He enjoyed Civil War history, family genealogy, and theatre style pipe organs. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Penny Ewing Pritchett of Bridgeville; daughters, Shelby McKenzie and husband Scott of Milford, Dana Isom and husband Glen of New Castle, Abby Pritchett of Bridgeville, and Sarah Ramey and husband Trevor of Bridgeville; two grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his sister, Carole Jean Wright and husband Thomas of Va. Funeral services will be held on Wed., Sept. 4, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville, Delaware, where friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Interment will be in the Bridgeville Cemetery with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Union United Methodist Church, 2 N. Laws St, Bridgeville, DE 19933. Arrangements by the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford, DE.
