HARRINGTON - William T. Carmine of Harrington died of cancer Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, in his home. He was 61.
Mr. Carmine was born in Lewes, son of the late William and Mary Ellen Carmine.
He was a tractor-trailer driver all his life. He traveled cross-country, and had been in every state and seen it all. His favorite state was Arizona, and his loving wife accompanied him on many trips. For the past two years, he had been working for New Century Transportation.
Mr. Carmine, in his spare time, enjoyed watching NASCAR, with Dale Jarrett being his favorite driver. He also loved to go bowling, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He spoiled his grandchildren and great-grandchildren tremendously. He was an avid bird lover. He owned and took care of several parakeets and cockatiels. His best friend, who never left his side, was his dog, Shadow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Carmine of Harrington; a son and a daughter-in-law, Jerry D. and Michelle Carmine of Newburgh, N.Y.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa M. Watkins and John Davis of Seaford, and Jean Carmine Gooder and Mike Maloney of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Amanda L. Carmine, Lisa R. Gray, Jodie E. Gray, Hunter E. Gooder, Sarah Thomas and Joseph Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Shanti Gray, Le'yiah Carmine Smith.
Services will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Du Pont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Tunnell Cancer Center, Beebe Medical Center, Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
