PORTLAND, Ore. - William "Bill" Ragsdale, a resident of Delaware and Maryland most of his life, died Friday, March 7, 2008, in his sister's home in Portland after a short illness. He was 47.
Bill was a heavy equipment operator and was employed with the Operating Engineers Local 57 in Glen Burnie, Md.
He was U.S. Army veteran.
Bill was an avid arm wrestler until his illness. He placed eighth in the world.
He enjoyed NASCAR, football, riding his Harley, outdoor sports and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna L. Robinson; and his father, Bert F. Ragsdale.
He is survived by his sons, Seth Ragsdale of Dover, Del., and Billy Ragsdale of Smyrna, Del.; daughter, Jessica Ragsdale of Smyrna; stepson, Chad Patterson Jr. of Smyrna; his sister, Teressa Denson of Portland; his niece, Andrea Denson of Lewes, Del.; his nephew, Jason Denson of Dover; many great-nieces and great-nephews; stepsister Maryanne Healey of Camden, Del.; and a close friend, Don Miller of Portland.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Glenwood Cemetary, Smyrna.
