SMYRNA - William R. "Fuzzy" Blanchfield, 71, of Smyrna, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 13, 2011, at Kent General Hospital/Bayhealth in Dover. Born on Dec. 18, 1939, in Townsend, he was the son of the late Elmer and Nina (Willey) Blanchfield. Fuzzy, as he was affectionately known by many, was a truck driver for 40 years. He enjoyed his family and devoted his life to his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy throughout his life. He especially loved his visits with "Zappy" and "Seanie" as he lovingly called them. He often spoke of his grandchildren with much love and always wanted to provide a good life for each of them. Fuzzy enjoyed watching old western shows, was an avid supporter of both the Phillies and Eagles, loved NASCAR, and was a huge Mark Martin fan. His family will always remember him for his love of Dunkin Donuts coffee and butterscotch candies. In addition to his parents, Fuzzy was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Burris, Janet George and Frances Blanchfield; three brothers, James, Elmer and Dallas Blanchfield; and a granddaughter, Calisa Keene. He leaves many cherished memories to his son, William Keene; two daughters, Kimberly, with whom he held a special bond and lovingly called her "Daddy's Girl" and Michelle Blanchfield; two sisters, Alice Clough and Etta Usilton; two brothers, Roger Blanchfield and Brett McConnell; a very special nephew and caregiver who he loved and cherished like a son, John Blanchfield; 12 grandchildren, Crystal, Brittney, Justin, Seth "Zappy", Sean, DeWayne, Nikki, Morgan, Monica, Billy, Emily and Jonathan. Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Wednesday, May 18 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., in Middletown, where friends may visit with his family one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery.
