DOVER - William P. Horn, age 87, of Dover, died Jan. 15, 2012, surrounded by his family. Born in Columbia, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Margaret Lawler Horn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served during WW-II. He had later worked as an Industrial Engineer and had retired from the Playtex Corp. in 1986. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Dover, the BPO Elks Lodge in Dover, Maple Dale Country Club and the American Legion, Walter L. Fox Post. He enjoyed Hunting, Golf and Bowling. Mr. Horn had been a dedicated husband, father and loving grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Edward Horn. Mr. Horn leaves his wife, Mary D. Horn of Dover; six children, Kathleen and husband R. Christopher Spicer of Haddonfield, N.J., Sandra Hitchens of Wilmington, Christine and husband Alexander Jiacco of Wilmington, Michael and wife Gloria Horn of Dover, J. Scott and wife Joann Horn of Vorhees, N.J., and Jeffrey Horn of Dover; along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Holy Cross Church 631 S. State St. Dover. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. Family suggests donations in his memory to the Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901; or to The ARC of Delaware, 2 S. Augustine St., Suite B, Wilmington, DE 19804. Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc., Dover, where condolences and guest book signings may be made via www.ambruso.com.
