William (Bill) P.
Berryhill, 97
CAMDEN-WYOMING, Del. - William (Bill) P. Berryhill went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
He was born January 7, 1925, in Cochran, Ga. to the late Willie Mae Smith Berryhill and Allie B. Berryhill.
Mr. Berryhill was raised in Thomaston, Ga. Immediately following high school, he joined the United States Army and served in General Patton's 3rd Army in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He served from February 25, 1943 to November 19, 1945.
Following his service in the Army, Bill worked at Playtex, where he met his wife of 49 years, Carol "LaVerne" Brougher. He also had his own plumbing and heating business doing small and large jobs in the community, working well into his 80s.
He and LaVerne enjoyed traveling, camping, and going to gospel concerts. He went on many trips with his son, Lance, and family, including trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, and more. He also went on mission trips with Capitol Baptist Church and was blessed to go to the Holy Land when he was 92 years old.
He had a love for dogs and raised beagle dogs. His favorite was his little Boston Terrier "Pepper" (Jodi Mae) that he adopted after his wife passed. He and Pepper did everything together and she was a joy to him.
He was a member of Capitol Baptist Church for almost 50 years.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Pam Berryhill; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Joseph Garvey; his brother, JB Berryhill; two granddaughters, Lori Savage and Nicole Garvey; two great granddaughters, Layla Savage and Ashley Moynagh.
A viewing will be held at Torbert Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, Del. Services will be held 12 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Avenue, Dover, Del. Friends may come one hour prior. Interment will be held at Odd Fellow's Cemetery, in Camden, Del.
