William 'Bill' McKinley Parks, 84

GOLDSBORO, Md. - William "Bill" McKinley Parks, of Goldsboro, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Memorial Hospital of Easton. He was 84. He was born June 24, 1924, in Kegley, W.Va., to the late Lewis McKinley and Vera Merle Venable Parks. Mr. Parks was a retired operating engineer for the Local Union 37 working at the Sparrows Point Steel Mill in Baltimore. After retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, auctions, playing cards and Sunday family dinners. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Virginia Parks; four sons, Frank Parks and John Parks, both of Denton, Ricky Parks of Henderson, and Kevin Parks of Greensboro; four daughters, Teresa Messick of Preston, Linda Pinder of Florida, Arlene Smith of Baltimore, and Cathy Schaake of Hillsboro; two brothers, Cecil Parks of Federalsburg and Otis Parks of Hurlock; three sisters, Gladys Bradley of Federalsburg, Jean Parks and Faye Collins, both of Seaford; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, where visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro. Condolences may be sent via www.fleegleandhelfenbein.com.
