William Marrill Powell

MILFORD, formerly of Claymont - William Marrill Powell, Sr., passed away at Christiana Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Wilmington to the late Anna Marie Alfonso Powell and Walter G. Powell, Sr. on Jul. 2, 1935.
He served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1961.
For 47 years, William worked in Plumbing and Heating Industrial Sales with HAJOCA Corp and then was an Industrial Estimator for GTS. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, William M. Powell, Jr.; and siblings, Anna Baker, George Powell, Walter Powell, Rae Stranahan and Marie Powell.
He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Peggy Rhoades Powell; two children, Michael Allen Powell and his fiancé Vera Toledo and Alicia Marie Lynch and her husband Daniel Sr.; siblings, Paul Powell, Joseph Powell and Lucille Dickerson; four grandchildren, Lindsay Powell Schneider and husband Zane, Daniel Lynch, Jr., Sarah Lynch and Olivia Lynch; and one great-granddaughter, Zola.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 in the sanctuary of Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 SE Front St., Milford, at 2 pm. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to Calvary UMC, 301 SE Front St., Milford, DE 19963. Attendees are encouraged to bring food donations for their Food Pantry Fund.
