MOUNT DORA, Fla. - William Joseph McCormick, passed away on Jul. 21, 2017 in Eustis, Fla. He was born Sept. 3, 1932, in West Chester, Pa. He had a Bachelor's Degree from West Chester State Teachers College. A Master's Degree from University of Pennsylvania. A Doctorate of Education from NOVA University. He taught at Tredyffrin – Easttown School District and at Alfred I. DuPont School District. He was the Director of Teacher Certification for the State of Delaware and developed the Doctoral Program for Wilmington College, now Wilmington University. Mr McCormick served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany beginning in 1955. He retired to Mount Dora, Fla. with his wife, Mary Ellen, in 1994. Mr. McCormick is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Ellen Kirkpatrick; and four children, Brenda McCormick Romano, Colin Joseph McCormick, Michael David McCormick, and Karen Ann McCormick; three grandchildren, Elena Grace McCormick, Erin Marie McCormick and Cameron Chase Fullwood. Bill was an avid golfer, loved to travel with his wife, and was a lifetime Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mount Dora, Fla. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
