MILFORD - William J. Walls Sr. passed away at the age of 92 on Friday, Dec. 3, 2011. Bill was the son of the late James H. Walls and Helen J. Walls of Ridgeley, Md. He was married for 64 years to the late Clarabel P. Walls, formerly of Harrington. Bill was a graduate of Ridgley High School, where he excelled at baseball and soccer. He served with honor in the U.S. Army during World War II. Bill retired from civil service work at the Dover Air Base after 30 years. Throughout his life, he was involved with Harrington Little League football and baseball, as well as a former Boy Scout of America leader having been awarded District Award of Merit and Wood Badge. Bill could be found working at the Delaware State Fair each year for over 30 years. In addition, he was a member of Lions International, Lower Delaware Democrat Club, Senior Center of Harrington, and Asbury Methodist Church, Harrington, where he served on church committees. He was an avid golfer with 2 Hole in Ones. His love of golf took him to many courses throughout the Eastern Shore, as he was very active with MSGA. His golfing excursions also took him to Bermuda and St. Andrews, Scotland. Bill was a former member of Shawnee Country Club. Many an hour was spent enjoying the camaraderie of the lifelong friends he made. He enjoyed teasing and playing practical jokes on these friends and he received in kind. Memories were made, and to this day are often shared by his family. Besides his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a grandson, William J. Walls III; his brothers, James Harry Walls, and Edwin Walls. He is survived by daughters, Sharon Walls-Hall, Marilyn Longenecker (Bill), Andrea Dugger (Richard); son, William J. Walls Jr. and his wife Cathy; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and his golfing buddies, Ray, Wayne, and Mark. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, with services starting at 2:30 p.m., in the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
