CAMDEN - William Edward Torian departed this life on Dec. 23, 2014 at Kent General Hospital in Dover Del. William was born in Roxboro, N.C. on Nov. 5, 1935. He was the son of Johnny K. Torian and Hattie Stephens Torian. He was married to the late Ella S. Torian on Aug. 29, 1959. He retired from the United States Air Force after more than 20 years of honorable service. His military career took him to many countries which include Vietnam, Japan, France and Germany. He spent an additional 20 years as a Civil Servant, taking him to Germany, Italy and Turkey. He lived his retired life in Dover, Del. and continued to travel throughout his life. He is survived by his two daughters, Ella D. Torian of Spring Hill, Tenn. and Wanda T. Carlson of Milford, Conn.; son in law, John D. Carlson of Milford, Conn.; three grandchildren, Daniel S. Carlson of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Matthew D. Stallings of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Regina M. Carson of Milford, Conn.; sister Maralyn Winstead; three sisters-in-law, Christeen Torian (N.C.), Beatrice Moore (Ga.) and Carol Burton (N.C.), four brothers-in-law, Otis Scott, Sr. (N.C.), Clarence Scott, Jr. (N.C.), Floyd Wayne Scott (N.C.) and Shelly Burton (N.C.) and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Delaware State College in 1981. He was a long time Mason, Alpha Psi Alpha Fraternity, NAACP Life Member, Board Member of Dover Federal Credit Union and Delaware State University Alumni Association and Booster Club. Funeral services were held Dec. 27, 2014 at the Bennie Smith Funeral, located at 717 W. Division Street, Dover, DE. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
