QUEENSTOWN, Md. - William Edward Shortall passed away May 13, 2007, in Easton Memorial Hospital. He was 74.
Mr. Shortall was born July 10, 1932, in Easton, son of the late Francis Edwin Shortall Sr. and Eda Bailey.
A graduate of Centreville High School, he served in the Navy during the Korean War. After being discharged, he entered Washington College in Chestertown, where he earned a bachelor's degree, followed by a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
He was a math and physics teacher at Lansdowne High School and a past president of the Teachers Association of Baltimore County from 1970 to 1972. Upon retirement, in 1987, he moved to the Eastern Shore.
Mr. Shortall was an avid reader, golfer and enjoyed cooking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Edith Shortall; and two brothers, Thomas Michael Shortall and Timothy Bailey Shortall.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Shortall of Elkridge; a brother, Francis Edwin Jr. of York, Pa.; three nieces, Kate Wood of Missouri, Kelly Christman of Florida and Angela Shortall of Queenstown; and a great-niece, Kira Butler of Hollywood, Md.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 408 S. Liberty St., Centreville, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will immediately follow in Chesterfield Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Queen Anne's Inc.; 423 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville, MD 21666.
